Airedale Terrier: Intelligent, Devoted and Spirited
The Airedale Terrier is an overall wonder. He learns quickly, is an alert watchdog and is a guard dog by nature.
One-family dogs, they are devoted, spirited, fun-loving, protective and adaptable. They are also rowdy until trained and have reached adulthood.
They are quarrelsome with strange dogs (I have found terriers to be quarrelsome with dogs in the same household unless properly trained).
Airedale Terriers are fine for older children. They have been called stubborn and bold. They are incredibly active and need a lot of outdoor exercise.
Their coat requires a lot of attention. They need to be groomed every other day and they need to see a professional groomer to be clipped. The good news is they shed very little.
The average weight of a full-grown male is 50-60 pounds. A female will weigh 45-55. The tail is typically docked.
